“I had some magical moments where things all of a sudden were like an epiphany in my head and it popped and I went ‘oh my God, for the last 8 years I’ve been doing this one thing not totally wrong but just wrong enough to screw my game up’, and some simple little adjustment, some minor little tweak all of a sudden takes me from a point where I’ve got 50% unforced errors lets say on an approach volley, now I’m hitting 70%-75% of those in. Our Private Estate - "Villa Tranquila"
Our 13,000 square foot estate features 8 suites with private key card access, air conditioning in every room, a full bar and lounge upstairs and kitchen and dining room downstairs.
The back of our estate features a private pool complete with palm trees and deck chairs, absolutely perfect for cooling off after each morning's group session with Kevin, Megan and Ian.
Every breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be prepared and served by our private chef in this spacious kitchen and dining room area, complete with coaching insights and war stories from the court!
In the evenings you can relax in your private suite or join the group for beverages and conversation in our bar and lounge area. The big screen TV is playing tennis whenever possible!
Each morning and afternoon we'll walk less than a block to our tennis courts for group and private sessions. Taking in the beautiful scenery is a great way to start and end each day.
Morning sessions will be focused on a different topic each day: groundstrokes, net game, serve and return, singles strategy and doubles strategy. Each afternoon you'll have a private session with Ian.
Our private villa is located within the exclusive Hacienda Pinilla resort in Guanacaste, Costa Rica, right along the northern Gulf Coast side of the country.
This is the view that will greet you in the evening after a full day on the courts. This stretch of private beach is just a mile away from Villa Tranquila. The water is always warm and the sunsets are amazing.
Just another desert in paradise prepared by our private chef! He and his assistant rotated among traditional favorites (pork tenderloin), local specialties (whole red snapper) and gourmet dishes.

"I definitely plan to attend another one..."
"For me, it’s been reinforcing because in the morning each day we’ve had a particular topic or theme. The first 3 days were more technique, the last 2 days were more strategy. I think it’s been good because in the morning we focus and go through each technique methodically, methodically...and then in the afternoon you have an opportunity to work one-one-one with Ian on something that you personally want to improve. But then when you’re working with either Kirby or Ira on the other court with two people, it reinforces what you’ve done in the morning.
It was excellent. I think all three of you (Ian, Ira, and Kirby) approach the techniques in the same way. It’s clear that there’s a professional and friendly relationship and that’s been a lot of fun! I think the relationships between everybody grew as the week went on.
Oh, definitely, definitely do it. And if you can’t come to Costa Rica then come to one of the other ones in the United States. I definitely plan to attend another one. The food has been excellent, the chef has done an excellent job, the accommodations were lovely and clean. And that you can walk back and forth to the tennis courts is lovely because that helps accommodate everyone’s schedule and I don’t have anything negative to say. It’s been a lot of fun!"

"Figure out how to get to the next Costa Rica program..."
"When I attended Ian’s Costa Rica Tennis in Paradise program I expected to have a great time and learn a lot – it was and I did! I’d taken Ian’s classes online and was looking forward to getting an intense dose of instruction in person. What really made the week extra worthwhile is that Ian is very perceptive and sees things other coaches miss. His daily observations on my strokes, footwork, and mindset really helped take my game to another level. For example: Something that might seem small but ultimately was holding me back from having a great backhand volley: I didn’t realize I was changing my grip slightly from forehand to backhand. That slight change was harming my timing and keeping me from making solid contact. I didn’t know I was doing it and none of my previous coaches had either. But making this small but important change I was able to increase my backhand volley winners by at least 50% almost immediately. I brought my husband, who is not a tennis player and he loved being in Costa Rica too. For anyone who wants Ian’s keen eye on their game, have lots of fun playing hours of tennis in a gorgeous location, plus experiencing lush Costa Rica, figure out how to get to his next Costa Rica program. Bliss!”
